Prof. Xiangru Wang
On August 18, 2021, the National Natural Science Foundation of China announced the results of the project review for the 2021 centralized reception period. Dr. Xiangru Wang, a PI of the "Improving Food Safety of Pork Supply Chain in China" project, and a professor of Veterinary Medicine at Huazhong Agricultural University received the National Science Fund for Excellent Young Scholars in 2021.
According to the introduction on the website of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Science Fund for Excellent Young Scholars supports young scholars who have achieved good results in basic research to independently choose research directions to carry out innovative research, promote the rapid growth of young scientific and technological talents, and cultivate an approval of outstanding academic backbones who are expected to enter the frontier of world science and technology.
Resume of Dr. Wang Xiangru:
Wang Xiangru, Ph.D., is currently a professor of animal infectious diseases at Huazhong Agricultural University. He is a winner of the National Science Fund for Excellent Young Scholars in 2021, and a winner of the Hubei Provincial Natural Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars. His research interests include the etiology, pathogenic mechanism, diagnosis and control of animal-borne zoonotic diseases and major animal diseases, focusing on major diseases of pig herds such as African swine fever and swine pseudorabies, as well as extraintestinal pathogenic large intestine diseases. Bacillus and other zoonotic pathogens, and systematically carry out basic research on "molecular target-oriented pathogen-host interaction". In recent years, as the first author or corresponding author, he has published 34 research papers in CID, PLOS Pathogens and other journals, and obtained 4 nationally authorized invention patents.
