Established in 1908, Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences is a comprehensive non-profit agricultural research institution. It now has a faculty of 1037, 895 being scientific personnel, 500 holding senior professional ranks, 368 holding PhD Degree. Its research is mainly directed towards basic agricultural research and applications, high-tech agricultural innovation and service mechanism, with an aim to provide service and assistance for rural development of Zhejiang province.

There are also 26 ministerial-level platforms and 11 provincial ones at ZAAS. The academy has also been involved in the development of 22 MARA modern agricultural industrial systems It has established joint research centers with partners both home and abroad, and has built joint post-graduate training centers (innovation base) together with Nanjing Agricultural University, Zhejiang Normal University, and Anhui Agricultural University.

 

ZAAS has a library of 140,000 volumes, and publishes 2 provincial scientific journals, namely, Journal of Zhejiang Agricultural Sciences, and Acta Agriculturae Zhejiangensis.
