News » International Pork Safety Forum was held successfully

 

On October 20, 2021, the "International Pork Food Safety Forum" organized by the "Improving Food Safety of Pork Supply Chain in China" project team was held in Chongqing International Expo Center. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Wu Bin, a PI of the project. More than 100 domestic researchers engaged in swine disease prevention and food safety research, as well as pig breeding and pork production practitioners attended the meeting. The forum was broadcast live online simultaneously, and more than 7,000 viewers watched it online.

 

Before the start of the forum, members from the project team, Dr. Liu Aimin from the University of Minnesota, Prof. Huanchun Chen from Huazhong Agricultural University, and Prof. Yanbin Li from the University of Arkansas, as well as Will Watts from the Walmart Food Safety Collaboration Center delivered speeches successively. Representatives from the project industrial partners New Hope Liuhe company, Guangxi Yangxiang company, and Jinlong company, introduced the development history and mission and vision of their respective companies.

 

In the forum report session, researchers from the project team from universities and research institutes of China and the United States gave talks on " Detecting animal disease and foodborne pathogens in pork supply chain - sampling, testing, analysis, and modeling", " Studying antibiotic residues and antimicrobial resistance", "Novel intervention strategies and technologies for food safety assurance in pork supply chain", “Rapid detection of pathogenic bacteria in pork supply chains”, “Risk assessment and supply chain management in pork production”, and “Building integrated monitoring and analysis system by employing blockchain and bigdata analysis”, respectively.
