John Kent

John L. Kent received his doctorate from University of Tennessee and is a Clinical Professor and Director of Supply Chain China Initiatives in the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas.  In addition to teaching in the supply chain management department his responsibilities include working with existing and establishing new relationships in China as part of the College’s strategic commitment to education and research in China. He received his MBA in International Management from the University of Dallas, BS in Computer Science from Henderson State University and has over ten years of work experience in various modes of transportation.

 

His research has been published in the Journal of Business Logistics, Transportation Journal, and International Journal of Physical Distribution and Logistics Management.  His industry experience included the development and implementation of information systems including transportation optimization, EDI and Fuel Authorization systems at Burlington Northern Motor Carriers, CSX Intermodal, and Sea-Land Service.  While at Sea-Land, he was responsible for the implementation of inland transportation systems in North America, Europe, Japan, and China.
